Due to the busy schedule our players have now begun weekly Ice regeneration training. Each week after the stresses and strains of tournament golf the players take to the plunge pools set at various temperatures. The proven effects of the ice cold water help our players regenerate quicker meaning they are ready for peak performance sooner.

In addition to practice and competition (4-5 days / week), our golfers also have some form of fitness training, this involves mountain or beach aerobic workouts, resistance work in the gym, MMA training as well as pilates. Therefore we need to ensure that players recover quickly to enable them to play golf the very next day.

Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), can sometimes occurs between 1 – 3 days after intense exercise. Ice baths are thought to reduce the build up of lactic acid in muscles by constricting the blood vessels. They also decrease metabolic activity, which can also help reduce tissue breakdown and swelling.

Many elite athletes use contrast cold water recovery to reduce muscle pain and soreness after intense training sessions or competition. Contrary to the public’s perception of golfers, a very high percentage of professional golfers will have quite a physically demanding schedule similar to our players. Therefore we are taking every precaution to help maintain their performance as much as possible.
