The Portugal Open is one of the oldest and most iconic contests of the main European golf course.
The world-class players were present in the tournament and between its champions there were stars like Sam Torrance, Colin Montgomerie, Fredrik Jacobsen, Carl Pettersson, Miguel Angel Jiménez and Thomas Bjorn.
In 2017, the winner was Matt Wallace English, who through his victory in the Open automatically open a Portuguese cattle to the European tour.
This year, the tournament will arrive between May 10th and 13th, again in Morgado Golf Resort, in Portimão, and will count towards the ranking of the Challenge Trip, with a cash prize of € 200,000. Miguel Franco de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Golf Federation, José Correia, President of Portuguese PGA, and Alain de Soultrait, Director of the European Challenge Travel, will discover, in today’s press conference, some Portuguese and international participations, as well as additional details of the tournament.

The tournament lasted from May 10 to May 13, again in the area of a golf Morgado, in Portimão, with a cash prize of € 200,000 and 156 players, 15 of which are Portuguese.
Counting towards the Challenge Travel (the 2nd European tour of the march, only below the European tour), the contest will have a cash prize of € 200,000 (making it one of the most lucrative tournaments in the course ) and will have the participation of 156 players, 14 or 15 of whom will be Portuguese, according to Portugal’s President PGA, José Correia.
Ricardo Santos, Filipe Lima and Pierre Figueiredo have direct access to the tournament as members of the Journey of Challenge, and as far as wild cards for another Portuguese, according to the National Ranking, the following players have already confirmed, Tomás Silva , João Carlota, João Ramos, Tiago Cruz and Tomás Melo Gouveia. The remaining points are still for debate.
